Passionate music advocate for western Sydney, Father Arthur Bridge, is encouraging everyone to attend a concert at St Patrick’s Cathedral, Parramatta, on Easter Monday, April 21, at 6pm. The Song Company takes the audience to the heart of the Easter Sacrifice by pairing David Lang’s The Little Match Girl Passion with Demantius’ St John’s Passion.
The Song Company, under the direction of Roland Peelman, has developed a finely honed reputation for vocal artistry in concerts, education, tours, recordings and special projects.
Arthur Bridge is the founder and CEO of Ars Musica Australis, which supports young Australian artists, has commissioned about 300 new compositions and worked particularly to increase music opportunities to audiences in western Sydney. In 2008 he was awarded an honorary doctorate in music by the University of Sydney for his services to Australian music.
After several years of study in the UK, Arthur’s work as a Roman Catholic priest for almost 25 years has taken him from Baulkham Hills to Blacktown and Harris Park. More detail about his commitment to music is in Chapter 28 of Passion Purpose Meaning – Arts Activism in Western Sydney.
